Small Business impact in U.S.
With all the
talk about the big sales on “Black Friday” and how important this day is to the bottom
line of the businesses that now open on Thanksgiving, how often do we think
about the small businesses that employ over 50% of the working population?
Small
businesses as considered by the SBA as an enterprise having fewer than 500
employees. Millions of these small businesses have less than 10 employees,
and many of those are self employed people who have no employees. But without
these small businesses, the employment situation in the U.S. would be bleak.
Many think
that large corporations employ most
people and while businesses like Walmart, which employs 1.3 million workers in
the U.S. and IBM which employs over 400,000 employees, small businesses have
generated 65% of net new job growth since 1995 and over 500,000 new small
businesses start up every month.
These statistics
are great to hear, but as a small business owner who does Property Management
in Orange County Ca. I know how difficult it is to keep a small business
running and while over 500,000 small businesses start every month more than
that number close every month.
Small
businesses are the life blood of this country and often we complain when we are
treated poorly buy these large businesses who could care less who we are, small
businesses do care and treat their customers or in my case clients with great
care. Small businesses know that if they disappoint the people they do business
with, they will go somewhere else.
This year,
try to keep in mind the small businesses when you are doing your Christmas
shopping and if possible give them a chance to win your business. I know one thing;
you will be treated much better when you walk into their door.
