Time to decorate for Christmas
Now that Thanksgiving is behind us,
it’s time to set our focus on Christmas just a few short weeks away. Getting
those Christmas decorations out and unpacked is never a fun task and making
sure all those lights work before they are put in place is an important first
step.
This year I bought new LED lights for
the tree, I took advantage of the Home Depot trade in offer, You could trade in
1 old string of lights for a discount on a new LED string. I would like to
replace all my lights for the outside, but at $12.00 for 50 Lights it is just
too expensive to do all at once. If there is another sale in the next week I
may purchase a few more.
Is there any worry though, in my Business of Property Management in Orange County Ca. Could
Tenant decorating for Christmas cause some damage to the property. Hooks
for the outdoor Christmas lights on the Fascia boards or other ways that decorations
are attached could be an issue. Getting the tree inside the house and watering
the tree on carpet or wood flooring can be a concern. Old and damaged lights on the tree of
course can be problematic, but I would never be a scrooge, it is important that Tenants are allowed
to express their Christmas spirit.
I do expect Tenants to pay close
attention to making sure they take care when decorations are attached to any
part of the property and if there is any questions they have on what is allowed
and what is not allowed then they should ask before hand. I will make my Holiday rounds
to every property and pay my respects to all my Tenants and that will give me
the opportunity to see their decorations.
For the most part, Christmas
decorating is not an issue for Tenants, and is something that should be
enjoyed, but just like anything else a Property Manager should pay attention
and make sure the property is always maintained and decorations are put up and
removed with care.
