Why remodeling is on the rise
I was reading an article in the Wall Street
journal, about how remodeling is gaining momentum. With all the experts telling
us that the real Estate market is on the rise. The momentum in remodeling seems
to be a little off base. Usually you hear about remodeling being on the rise
when Real Estate sales are at a standstill and people have decided to stay
where they are and not purchase a new home. Does this tell us more about the
future of the Real Estate market then all the experts?
If you look at the price of Home
Depot Stock, it has gone through the roof in the past year and if the
remodeling trend continues, Home Depot is in a great position to continue
increasing sales.
Many people seem to feel that 2015 is
going to be a good year for Real Estate
Sales and in my business of Property
Management in Orange County Ca. I have a couple of homes coming up for sale.
This, in my opinion may be a better year to put you home on the market, but don’t
wait too long. The advantage a home owner has now is that there is still very
low inventory. So when I advise my clients about a sale, I tell them that if
they want to sell, do it, but later in the year you may get a flood of homes on
the market and that will bring down the price of their home.
Always remember, people do things in
groups and you can feel the trends moving towards more listings this year. The
key is that you want to be ahead of the crowd, because once the momentum
starts, you property will be just part of the crowd.
Getting back to the remodeling story,
I do think that many people have decided to stay where they are and are fixing
up their homes. The economy, even though many of the numbers say things are on
the move, there is not that feeling of euphoria out there in the real world and
many people are still worried about their situation and they do not want to
take on a new large expense.
In my business of Property Management
in Anaheim Ca. I run into this all the time. People telling me that they are concerned
about the future. I don’t have a crystal ball, but what worries me is that
before we get that feeling that things are really on the move, it might be time
for another down turn.
