Why are California Home
owners not remodeling?
In some markets around the
Country, the Remodeling business is booming, especially Texas, but California
cities do not even make the list. The question is why? California is always on the
forefront of movements in this Country, sometimes good and sometimes not so
good, but it seems as though, when it comes to remodeling their homes,
California Home owners are sitting on their hands.
With all the talk of the
improving economy, California is not feeling the effects of the improvement.
The statistics say that jobs are improving, but the job picture is not a good
one. When IN-N-OUT burger is one of the jobs that people want and not just
young people but middle aged family providers, this is not a good thing for a
so called growing economy.
Talk about the Real Estate industry being the
main driver of a growing economy is correct, but when you look at the money
being spent by home owners on their existing homes is also a very good
indicator of how the economy is growing. This may be more of an indication that
the California economy is still not cranking it up, and really have nothing to
do with the economy at large. California is a very expensive place to live and
most people are working just to pay their bills. Putting money aside for remodeling is very
difficult for people of California and that is hurting the remodeling industry.
In my business of Property
Management in Anaheim Ca. I don’t encourage my clients to spend a ton of money
to remodel their investment property. It is much more important to keep the
property in good condition and not make the property a show place. Most renters
are not concerned with a beautiful; home, they are concerned with having a nice
place to live at an affordable rent. As a General Contractor, I am sympathetic, with the contractors who make their living remodeling homes and I hope
that the market in California picks up in the near future,
