Sellers in control?
I have been reading quite a bit lately about how hot the
Real Estate market is, but I’m not sure “Hot” is really the word that
should be used.
If you asked me if it is a good time to sell, I would say
yes, the market is in the sellers favor. One reason is there is still a very
low inventory, so people who are looking to buy, have fewer choices and that
works in the sellers favor. Basic economics, the less of a product there is,
the more demand and the higher the cost the product will demand. So for the
sellers that are ready to sell, and the numbers work for them, then by all
means, sell.
In my business of Property Management in Anaheim Ca. I talk
to renters all the time about their ability to buy and their willingness to do
what it takes to make the move to buy a home. I was talking to a renter the
other day, and he actually said that interest rates we too high and I just
about fell over and reminded him that even if interest rates go up a point, that
they would still be great compared to the past. So the perceptions of buyers
are not always reality based and it does have an impact on how they make their
decisions to buy or not to buy.
Getting back to the sellers, this market now is what I call
an organic market and what I mean by that is the all cash buyers are gone and
the true market is going to bubble up. We will see in the next few months how
the Real Estate market has really recovered and where we stand not only in Real
Estate but in the economy at large.
