Black, the color of Elegance
When you use Black as a color, you are not just putting a
color on a door; you are creating an elegance that can really make a room or
especially an entrance look great.
Black should not be used as a main color, but as a tease
that will accentuate just about any color, but if black is used incorrectly it
can make an area very dark and not very attractive.
My favorite combination is the
standard black and white. With this combination, you can make a room look rich
and clean and if you use this combination as the entrance to a home or building
it shows as a pathway to what is inside.
I also like grey and black, and grey, black and white also
makes a nice combination. Red and black is also a popular duo and yellow is
also a workable color.
I like to use black as more of a surrounding trim and not a solid.
For example I like to use white for the door and black as the trim, you could
do it the other way, but again you need to be careful and not make the area too
dark. A lot will depend on the lighting and the size of the area you are
painting. If the lighting is not good then black needs to be a small part of
the color and the smaller the area the less black should be used.
I have also used black as kitchen tile with white grout and

I would never recommend using too much black, because it can be an acquired taste
and if a person does not like it, they may not rent the property and also black
does show the dust and needs to be cleaned more often. Just like a shiny black
car, there is nothing that looks better, but it also can look dingy if it is
not kept clean.
So when it comes to color, be bold and brave and try things
that are new and innovative. Just remember, the great thing about paint, is you
can always change it.
