Making it look easy
Have you ever watched a great athlete and said to yourself, “that
looks easy”, but then you go out and try and do what they do and you find out
that it’s not so easy. The great ones make it look easy but that comes with a
lot of prep work and practice. The work that is done before any big game is
what makes the work done during the game look easy.
So many people think that people who are good at what they
do, just have some natural talent and everything just comes easy to them
because of their great gifts, but that is rarely the case. Yes, being born with
certain attributes makes things easier, but that still does not guarantee success
not only as an athlete, but at any endeavor you attempt. People who make their
living in the business arena need to practice too. There are billions of dollars
made from people who write self help books and also at career coaching, because
everyone who is successful understands that whether you are playing a sport, or
making a sale the prep time that you spend is the most important part of the
activity.
I spent years playing baseball through collage and I
understand the importance of practice, but there is the phenomenon known as the
great practice player. That is the player that is great at practice, but when
the lights are on, the abilities seem to fade and the reason is that as long as
something does not count, these practice players feel no pressure, but once
they feel the pressure, then their game falls apart.
It’s like practicing a speech
in the mirror and it comes off great, but when there are people in the seats, and
then the heart starts to pump and the words just come out wrong. There are ways
to try and combat this fear of public speaking like imagining the audience in
their underwear, but you really just need to go for it and not worry about
making a fool of yourself and once you get used to doing that then the problem
will be solved.
The fear of failure is the most difficult thing to overcome
and the person who can get over that fear can make anything look easy if they
are at ease with what they are doing. This is much easier to say then do, that’s
why there are very few great athletes and very few people who can successfully sell
apples on the street corner. Not worrying about failure is difficult but if you
can master that as a person then life becomes much easier and much more
interesting.

people who fear failure all the time and that’s why they rent properties
instead of trying to buy. They fear failure, not only fearing the loan process,
but fearing the pressure of owning a home. Renting has no pressure, if you can’t
afford the rental property, you get a cheaper one. If you get tired of the
neighborhood your rental property is in, you move to another property, but if
you buy, you can’t just pick up and leave.
Life will never be easy, but
getting over the fear of failure is the key to making life seem easy or at least a little
easier
