A VIP for Property Management repairs
When you think about repairs as a Property Manager, you don’t
lose much sleep when it comes to appliances, but a good appliance repair
person is worth their weight in gold.
A few years ago, I needed an appliance repair person so I
called a number that was advertised in my area. The guy came out and it took
forever to get the part and I really did not like him, plus he was very expensive. The next time I needed
an appliance repaired, I did not want the same guy, so I called a different
number that was advertised in my area, and the same repair man came out, I
realized the scam and was very disappointed. A friend of mine gave me the
number of a repair man she used, so the next time I had a problem I called him,
and he was night and day from the last guy.
This man whose name is Louie came and did not have the part,
but he built at a part at my house temporarily until he was able to get the part. As a
Contractor myself, I appreciated his being able to think on his feet and make
my appliance work so I was not without.
At the time I met Louie, I was not a Real Estate Broker
specializing in Property Management, and now Louie is my main guy. He repairs
many things including Air Conditioners and he will make it to my properties no
matter how busy he is. I can’t tell you how valuable he is.
It’s funny, for a while, I was so down on appliance repair people,
I just thought it was better to buy a new product rather than dealing with the
repair people, plus they were so expensive. But my attitude has changed and it
is a great lesson to all of us who are in the service industry, especially in
my industry. Treat people with respect and do your job the right way, and people
may also change their attitude about your industry.
