Decoration Time
It’s that time and we start to see the lights go up and the
Christmas tree’s get propped up into the house. The work putting up these
decorations can be daunting and I know for me, I will be climbing up on trees
and getting those lights up. I have bought more LED lights this year in hopes
to save some money on electricity. I am hoping that before I get started this
weekend, I might find some sales on the LED lights to add to my collection.
The tree is another story. I wait until two weeks before
Christmas to buy my tree and I will probably end up at Home Depot like I do
most years. I try and get different types of tree’s every year. Last year I had
a Noble and this year, I think I will get the traditional Doug fur tree.
I want to give one suggestion for all of you who buy a real
tree. When you bring the tree home, set it up outside and rinse it off with
your hose. I rinse my tree thoroughly and then let it dry out over night. That
way you will rinse off many of the bugs and things that have accumulated on the
tree. Remember, it is a real tree and it has been grown outdoors and shipped a long way in a truck with hundreds of other tree's and now you
are going to put it in your home. Rinsing the tree will also get much of the
dust off and give your tree a nice bright look.
Decorating for Christmas, as much work as it takes, when it
is done, it gives me a good feeling and even though, in a few weeks all that
work has to come down and that is not fun at all, it is all worth it. I get a
kick when people stop in front of my home to look at the lights and the Snowman
I have in the center of my beautiful Olive Tree.
Unfortunately, I seem to see
less and less people decorating anymore. I don’t know why that is, but I recommend
that you do decorate, even if it is just putting up one string of lights. It
will make you feel good and get you into that Christmas spirit.
