Change Happens when People believe
In the last
few weeks we have been treated to all kinds of protests and of course the
disturbing pictures of destruction, but will any of these protests change
anything. If you look at History, the only way things change, is if there is
real belief that the issues that are being discussed are true issues.
Sometimes
protests become empty because their cause falls short of what the people believe.
I was
watching the news of the protests in New York a couple of days ago, and to me
it looked like collage kids at a frat party and when the protesters were
questioned about why they were protesting, their answers left quite a bit to be
desired.
Society always changes, in the 60’s I was very young, but those civil
rights protesters had convictions that convinced the rest of society that there
cause was righteous. You can only have change if people believe.
Anytime you
want to change things your argument needs to be full of truth. Today with all
the options we have for information, truth is not always easy to find, but
people have a very good truth detector and when there are people yelling with
very little content to what they are saying, that little alarm goes off in our
heads and we turn away.
