Blaming
yourself may be the first Test
So many people find others to blame
for their failings when all they really need to do is look in the mirror. We
are the largest obstacle and also to blame for 90% of the things that go wrong
in our lives.
Now of course there are things that happen in our lives that can
make life much more difficult, such as sickness or injury, but just look at
those amazing Veterans that have has limbs blown off but still find ways to run
marathons and create successful lives despite the setbacks that were not fault
of their own.
So many people fail or create
problems for themselves because they put off things that they need to do until
it is too late.
I see this all the time in my business of Property Management
in Anaheim Ca. and how Tenants deal with deadlines and how they deal with problems.
If a Tenant wants something done and all they have to do is call me, they will
make the effort and always answer their phone when I am trying to contact them
to get their task completed, but if I ask them to do something, it takes an act
of Congress not only for them to do it, but for them to answer the phone.
I just went through a very difficult
situation with a Tenant and them needing to move out from a property. They had
almost 2 months and left everything until the last minute. Not only did they
never find a place to go, they left the property a mess and I had to reduce
their deposit in half. When I gave the Tenant his check, he went crazy and
called me every name he could. I took the verbal tirade and explained to him
that this was his fault. We had a preliminary walk through and he corrected
nothing. Now the good news was that there was no damage, and they moved out so
if it made him feel better to yell and scream and blame me, so be it, I can
take the screaming and as a Real Estate Broker and a General Contractor I have
been called worst names, but if he does not change his ways, this will not be
the last situation that he has difficulty in life.
When you have something to do and
you don’t really want to do it, don't thing about not how you need to get it done,
but why you need to do it and that may help you get started and also reward
yourself when you complete the task. When I sell a home, I always buy myself
something that I really want but have been putting off.
The most important thing to
remember, is that we all put off what we don’t want to do, but think about
taking off a bandage, if you just tear
it off quickly it hurts but for a short time and it’s done and that how
we should handle difficult tasks, just get it done.
