The
spirit of opening day
Everyone loves opening day and for
Baseball fans there is nothing more special or hopeful than opening day to the
season and the opening of the 2015 season is no different. Think about it, on
opening day, every team starts out in first place and every fan drams about how
great it would be if threir team could be World Champs at the end of the year.
Yes on opening day, hope is in the air and the excitement can be felt throughout
the stadium.
Opening day is not limited to sports;
opening day can be felt in anything in life. If you open a new business, the
first day you open the doors is a very exciting and hopeful day, when people
get married, that first day is full of dreams and thoughts of what may come. The
first day of a vacation is full of excitement of what you are going to
experience. First days are the best days because there is no limit on the first
day,
But the first day though exciting,
is not the most important day.
The most important day is day two, because when
the excitement has faded the reality will set in and that is when you start to
find out what you are made of. It’s easy when everyone is telling you how great
things are going to be, but when you are sitting all alone with your thoughts,
that is when you need to fight through the doubts and fears that have a
tendency to set in.
I have felt the opening days in
sports and business and there is nothing like the adrenaline and enthusiasm of
that day, but the let down of day two is one of the most difficult things to
fight through and the days after can become a daunting task especially when
things get tough.
Think about the Baseball Team that
loses game one on opening day and what a letdown that is, but if they also lose
game 2, then the reality that this team may not be very good starts to set in
and as a player you must fight that feeling because it is a very long season
and anything can happen, but when you are dealing with lose, It's tough to get
that opening day feeling back.
In my business of Property
management in Anaheim Ca. I go through that opening day feeling every time I
put a new Tenant in a property, I always have the hope that the tenant will pay
the rent on time and we will have a good relationship, but once things take a setback,
I have to fight through the feelings of failure and try and get thing back on
track.
Opening day is a great thing to
have, but day 2 is the day that real dreams are made of.
