Don’t be fooled
In the world we live in today, the truth is a rare commodity
and it takes hard work to try and decipher what is real and what is made up.
When you see that the Majority Leader on the floor of the Senate of the United
States, admits that he lied about Mitt Romney not paying taxes and he gloats
about it that tells you how bad it is.
The internet is a great tool, but it is also a depository of
bad information. I rarely go to the internet to get the truth unless it is a
site I know very well and trust, but so much out there is just made up or takes
small pieces and creates a whole false story around it.
So how do we not be fooled by what is out there in the Media
and on the internet.
Just because the information is on the network news does
not make it true or even reliable. I am amazed how much news comes from polls,
it seems to me that the media is so lazy to actually go get a story that it
takes a poll and spends most of the time explaining the polls and talking about
how thing will look in the next poll. I really dislike polls and focus groups,
I think that polls can be greatly wrong and focus groups are made up of people
with nothing else to do but be a part of a focus group and that is not most of
society.
The more information out there is a very good thing, when I
was growing up we had very few places to get information, but now we have the
problem of too much information and that may distort the truth. The world has
always been a crazy place but in years past we only knew what was going on
around our lives in our local area, but today, we hear about what is going on
in the world not just in our local town and it makes life seem so dangerous and
violent and in many parts of the world it is, but the world is a very big place
and in our great nation, we still live in relative peace and tranquility, but
turn on the news and you think everything is falling apart.
In my business of Property Management in Anaheim Ca. I talk
to my Tenants and my clients all the time about the way things are and the
perception that we have of how things were and the reality is our concept of
history is only as old as we are, we perceive the world the way we live it
today and history is a configuration of our lives so we judge the world only by
our lifetime and not the past so when we say the world is more dangerous today,
we have no concept of how the world was prior to our existence.
Not being fool is hard but the only way to achieve this is
to do your homework and not believe everything you see or hear without your own
investigation.
