Working toward your goals
Everybody has goals, or at least they should and if you don’t,
you need to look at your life and find out why. If you are not working towards
something in your life, then you will never move forward. Leaving your life to
chance is not a very productive way to live. We all know people for one reason
or another seem to go through life and never really accomplish anything.
So
often we think of goals to be of the financial realm, but by no means is that
true. Many of the most successful people are successful not because of money
but because they accomplish the things that they want to accomplish.
Let’s take a look at how we get to the point that we are
working toward our goals. What can we do to make sure we don’t get distracted
from what we want to accomplish. It is easy to set goals, but very hard to make
them happen.
The first thing you need to do is keep your goal in front of
you every day, it may be posting a picture on your refrigerator or at your
desk. You want to think about your goal and always keep it close. The next thing
you need to do is make sure you can make small steps towards your goal. If you
don’t allow yourself to accomplish small steps towards your goal, you may get
frustrated and give up.
Next, at the end of each day, ask yourself what you did to
get yourself closer to accomplishing your goal. If you can’t answer that
question then you need to double your efforts and make sure you are paying
enough attention to your goal.
Last, don’t be afraid to pat yourself on the back as you
make progress towards your goal. Positive reinforcement is a great motivator,
even if it is you that is giving that reinforcement.
In my business of Property Management in Anaheim Ca. I
always set goals and do my best to work towards them and I find that if I make
my goals doable, then I can get to the finish line and that always makes me
feel good.
There are long term goals though that can take many years to
accomplish and those goals may be the most important, but they are also the
most difficult to keep focus on. Always keep your eyes on the prize and remind
yourself every day, why these goals are important to you and that will keep you
motivated.
