The cornerstone of your life
We all hear about the cornerstone of something and the
reason is that the cornerstone of a building is the part of the building that
gives it strength. In our lives, we also need to find the cornerstone that
gives us the strength and the willingness to proceed when circumstances tell us to
give up. For some, finding the cornerstone is easy, but for others finding
their cornerstone can be very difficult.
Finding the part of ourselves that is strong is a very
important part of our lives and as we see every day on the news, there are
people who seem to lose the hope that life can be anything other than painful
and as we all know, life at times can be very painful, but it is through the
difficult times that our cornerstone is formed.
When a builder is drawing up the plans to a new structure,
they make sure that the foundation is strong and can take whatever weight is
put on it. If the foundation fails, the building will crumble. Our lives are
the same way and when we see people who are not given a solid foundation, they
need to be able to find the cornerstone of their lives with a faulty
foundation. The good news is that unlike a building, a person can survive with
a faulty foundation as long as somewhere along the way they find the
cornerstone that will give them the strength to overcome the failing of their
foundation.
We see examples of this all the time, there may be an
athlete who was raised in a terrible situation, but somehow fought through
their circumstances and made something of themselves, but I ask myself all the
time, why do some get a good foundation and others are left on their own. That
answer is nowhere to be found, but we all have a cornerstone and we just need
to find it.
In my business of Property Management in Anaheim Ca. I talk
to Tenants all the time that have lost hope of ever being able to buy a home
and I tell them that if they stay focused, they will be in a position someday
to buy a home of their own. It may take time and they will have to change the
way they have been doing things in the past, but if they really want to buy,
and they work hard they can do it.
There are many ways that your cornerstone can reveal itself.
For some it is spiritual and for others it is getting through a rough time, and
for others it can be to do something that they really want to do. Whatever the
reason, we all have a cornerstone and finding it will make all the difference.
