Creativity is fun
When I look at a home that is creative and innovative, I
imagine how much fun it was for the Architect to put their ideas on paper and
then bring them to life. As a spec builder a few years ago, I have felt the
infusion of energy and pride when you create something that people are going to
live in and enjoy,
I am not an Architect, and you don’t have to be in order to
take your ideas from your mind to reality. You may need some help to do it, but
never be afraid to try something that is different and creative.
Take a look at
your home and imagine what you would like it to be, Take a piece of paper and
write down your ideas and even sketch a plan. You don’t have to be an artist to
put your ideas on paper; you just need an outline of your ideas. The next step
is look at your wallet and sees how much you are willing and able to spend to
make your idea come to life.
I like to try many different looks and as I have mentioned
before, you can change a room with color. Paint is cheap and your labor is free,
so if you are willing to put in the time, then you can , for very little money,
change the look and feel of a room or an entire home. Once you get the paint
where you want it, then you may want to look at the furniture you have, Loading
up a room with large furniture will make the room look small and if you are
dealing with a small room to start with you don’t want to take up all the space
with furniture. Color is also very important when it come to room space. The
darker the color, the smaller the room will look.
In my business of Property Management in Anaheim Ca. I have
a great opportunity to talk to home owners all the time and some of them are
new home owners and it is fun to hear their ideas and I also love to give them
my knowledge. Watching people create and put many of their ideas in their home is
fun for me. Sometimes I don’t like what they do, but who cares; the only thing
that matters is that the home owners like what they did. That is the thing that
keeps people from creating more than anything else, the fear that other people
will not like what they do. My advice to them, is don’t worry about other
people, create the way you want to create when it comes to your home and if
others hate it, then they don’t have to come over.
Being creative in your home will make you feel good and the
more you do it, the better you will become at creating different looks. If you
are having trouble getting started, just start in a small room and try your
creativity in a small way and see how you like what you created and if you like
what you did, then move on to the next room. Remember, it’s your home; there is
no hurry, so take your time and do your own thing.
