The passing of an era
When People think about the Raiders whether it be Oakland or
Los Angeles, they should think about Ken Stabler.
I know as I was growing up
and a Los Angeles Ram fan, I was well aware of Stabler on the other side of the
state. Stabler was known for his cool play and his wild side, his nickname was
the Snake and his play was not only snake like, but he was known as one of the
most accurate passers of all time.
As a football fan, I remember Ken Stabler more for his cool
play and his pleasant Southern demeanor. Ken Stabler was a Super bowl winning Quaterback and his numbers as a quarterback are very impressive,
he was also on the losing side of the "Emaculate Reception" game, that had him on the brink of another Super Bowl appearance, but he never was given the honor of being in the Hall of Fame, which is sad,
because he defiantly was deserving. Maybe it's because of his association
with the Raiders, just like Jim Plunket another Raider Quarterback who won two Super Bowls has also been passed over for the Hall of Fame.
I had not heard much about Stabler Lately, but he had been
doing football commentary for his college football team The University of Alabama.
Stabler played at a time when football was a much different game and players were not the media personalities that they are
today, but Ken Stabler had that bigger than life type of personality and he was, as John Madden, The Raider head coach at the time say’s “The Perfect Raider”.
