How to make your home look great on a budget
It’s the simple things in life that make us the happiest and
sometimes the simple things that you can do for your home will make your home a
happy home.
I was reading an article on how a brass sink that was not
used often was painted black and from the picture, it looked great. Now the
woman who wrote the article made clear that the sink was rarely used and that
made a big difference, because I don’t really think a painted sink would be
very durable for everyday use. But for decoration purposes it was a very
inexpensive way to spruce up the area.
I just put in a fountain in my front entry and it was very
inexpensive and putting a fern behind the fountain made it very appealing. This type of decoration makes a big
difference in the appearance of my front entry and it cost me very little.
The outside of your home is the first place people see, and
putting some plants and a few decorations can make a huge difference. The
inside can be a little more complicated and just putting a few plants most of
the time will not do much, in fact I don’t have much luck with indoor plants
myself.
That gets me back to painting the sink; you can change the look of your
home with paint. Think about painting not only the walls, but what about
painting furniture or putting up some nice paintings on the wall, most of us
would not know the difference between a Picasso or a Jones so you don’t need to
spend a fortune on paintings. When I see a nice painting, I could care less who
painted it.
Decorating the outside with plants and the inside with
paint, you could change the look of your home for under $500.00 and the best
part is that if you get tired of the new look, you can try new plants and new
colors until you get the look you are happy with. For me, it is an ongoing
project and I suspect it’s the same for most people.
